Meeting History

On October 10, 2015, we held our first meeting!

On October 24, 2015, we discussed antibiotics and antibiotic resistance.

On November 21, 2015, Andrew Klock gave us a presentation about genomic technology and cancer research.

On January 9, 2016, Dr. Jan Chalupny gave us a presentation about antibody-derived therapeutics.

On Feb. 6th, 2016, a club member spoke on antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance, as well as the harms of antibiotics.

On Feb. 27th, 2016, Becky Johnson gave us a talk on the immune system and cancer.

On March 12th, 2016, the topic was neuroscience, and we discussed Parkinson's disease.

On April 23rd, 2016, Dr. Mary Young, staff scientist at the CIDR, talked to us about her research in the field of immunology.

On September 24, 2016, we held the first meeting of the year and discussed an article on the Zika virus.

On October 8th, 2016, two club members spoke on brain physiology and aortic valve stenosis.

On October 29th, 2016, Becky Johnson talked to us about CAR T-cell therapy.

On November 12th, 2016, Dr. Jan Chalupny spoke to us about DNA Barcoding.

On January 24th, 2016, we discussed infectious diseases and the global incidence of tuberculosis each year.

On March 18th, 2017, Dr. Reitha Weeks spoke  to us on the olfactory system.

On November 18th, 2017, we held the first meeting of the year and discussed an article on the effects of blue light on sleep and the hormone melatonin.

On December 16th, 2017, we discussed bacteriophage therapy in the context of cholera.

On January 20th, 2018, we discussed the role of pressure in respiration in light of sleep apnea.
